LOS BAÑOS BRANCH

Wikipedia elaborates on three little-kown facts characterizing the municipality of Los Baños, in the province of Laguna.

The town is nestled between two of Southern Luzon’s most dominant geographical features – the Mount Makiling to the south-west with its 3,580 ft (1,090 m) elevation above sea level and the wide crater lake of Laguna de Bay to the north.    Both the mountain and the lake are volcanic features whose geothermal activities gave birth to the mud and hot springs after which the town was named

Laguna de Bay is fabled to be the filled-in caldera of a massive prehistoric volcano. Mount Makiling is a state-owned forest reserve administered by the University of the Philippines-Los Baños (UPLB). As such, Los Baños also hosts two constituent universities of the University of the Philippines System: the University of the Philippines Los Baños and University of the Philippines Open University, along with other foreign and local and international research centers.

The famous Laguna Buko pie (coconut meat pie) is acknowledged to have originated from Los Baños as an invention of a Food Technologist from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) Campus. Thus, the more popular term “D’ Original Buko Pie” or “Los Baños Buko Pie” accurately pinpoints the delicacy’s roots.

Los Baños remains as the country’s center of science and nature with the presence of national and international research institutions collaborating towards the advancement of science research

With a similar goal of advancing health consciousness within the town’s community of residents of its 14 barangays and among a steadily increasing student population both foreign and local, CareHealth Plus-Los Baños was established.
