The last bastion of our country’s freedom typifies the province of Bataan. April 9, 1942 commemorates the Fall of Bataan when American forces and Filipino fighters made their last stand, ferociously defending the Philippines from Japanese invaders. “With heads bloody but unbowed, they have yielded to the superior force and numbers of the enemy.
April 9, 1942 is also known as a “Day of Infamy” memorializing the start of the horrifying Death March of both American and Filipino defenders from Bataan to Capas, Tarlac.
On this day, all Filipinos will dredge up into memory a portion of the fearless radio message written by Captain Salvador P. Lopez and broadcasted by 3rd Lieutenant Norman Reyes over the Voice of Freedom radio from Malinta Tunnel in Corregidor:
“Bataan has fallen, but the spirit that made it stand—a beacon to all the liberty-loving peoples of the world—cannot fall!”

The ferry travels from Esplanade Seaside Terminal behind Mall of Asia in Pasay City to the Capinpin Port in Orion, Bataan.

The word Balanga originates from the Tagalog word bañga (clay pot), which the town used to produce and, which was among the best that can be found in the country. In December 30, 2000, Balanga was inaugurated as a City.
